THE WOOL
ARTIST

Manoli Ortiz de la Torre is a Spanish artist, who chose to live in a hamlet at the foot of the Rocha da Pena (Salir, Loulé). She became interested in felt when searching for an organic material able to express her artistic works. She believes that the technique of felting allows her to explore many avenues of useful creations, such as clothing and accessories, made with 100% natural wool. She appreciates “organic art” and focuses on this in the production of pieces with a deep sensitivity and connection to nature. She enjoys the aspect of creating, of working with other craftspeople and with designers, and finds in the TASA Project a means of promoting and selling her work, a side to her profession that isn’t that easy to access. She notices that people are increasingly more “aware about buying what is authentic”, which is important for the future of these arts.
