Salomé Afonso

PROJECTS WITH
LOCAL ROOTS

Salomé is a designer by profession and creative through and through. She believes that the tools she acquired during her degree course in Equipment Design at the faculty of fine arts at Lisbon University are as essential to her as all the friendships she has forged with people from the most varied of artistic areas. Her career has followed her academic path, seeing as her degree set the tone for wanting to broaden and complement her range of expertise. Since completing the degree in 2008 she has focused on courses and workshops that fuel her personal passions. From arts and crafts to typography, dance, writing, areas that she is passionate about but hasn’t trained in, Salomé has worked on projects as varied as they are challenging. She always gets a buzz from new challenges, having been involved in projects in areas that include museology and museography, graphic design, illustration and equipment design, for many institutions, such as the Ministry of Culture, TASA and Novabase. She compares herself to a Swiss Army knife, enjoying and making the most of this.
