Sandra Louro

THE CORK DESIGNER

Sandra was born in Faro, in 1976. She gained a degree in Equipment Design at the faculty of fine arts at the University of Lisbon in 1999. She works in the field of museography and graphic design for the Museum Department of Faro Municipal Council. She took the short course in Exhibition Design at the Milan Domus Academy. Sandra develops furniture and accessories in cork. Drawing her inspiration from Portuguese culture and the Algarve’s arts and crafts, she combines cork with other materials to add value and make the very most of the properties of this material. To give her creations a sense of unity, she created the brand Likecork in 2012. In 2013 she took part in the TASA Project “Ligações” international creative residence.

She belongs to the committee organising the “Design&Ofícios” project, which joins crafts with design.
