IN A CORK CRADLE
She was born in Lisbon, but she currently lives and works in Mauritius. She gained a degree in architecture in 2000 from the Mackintosh School of Architecture – Glasgow School of Art, in Scotland. She has worked with architectural firms Francisco Aires Mateus Arquitetos, Herzog & de Meuron and Promontório, among others. Sofia and Karin Pereira have worked together since their time at the Aires Mateus Arquitectos practice, in 2006.Since then they have worked in architecture and design. In 2007 they won the “2nd LIC Lisbon Ideas Challenge” urban design with photovoltaics and in 2014 2nd prize in the Green Furniture Award, in Sweden, with the “sleep tight” cork cradle, developed by TASA.
